Futurism is seeking a junior graphic designer to work alongside the director of design, photo editor and social team in a supportive role. The junior graphic designer will help craft arresting, compelling visuals for social, web and print that help to further Futurism’s mission in engaging global audiences with cutting edge news and media covering developments in science, technology, medicine and policies that impact the way we conceive of the future. The junior graphic designer will be responsible for executing concepts handed to them by the director of design and also have opportunities to concept and execute their own ideas. Although this is a supporting role, the ideal candidate will be eager to learn and grow into more positions of considerably more responsibility.
The ideal candidate will have a BA in graphic design and 0-2 years of experience working in design and publishing, although strong portfolios from non-BA candidates are encouraged. We are looking for somebody with a strong visual identity and typographic skills but a willingness to take on new challenges, to stretch and grow and to be unafraid to fail. Interest in science and technology is a plus, as is a desire to work in media and publishing.
